DHS orders civilian federal agencies to remove DeepSeek products and services

4 people · 7 posts · first post · latest

Andrew Curran reports that DHS is requiring all civilian federal agencies to remove DeepSeek products and any third-party services built on DeepSeek implementations, and to stop procuring them, citing a Federal Register public-inspection document. Dean Ball replied 'lol'; Samuel Hammond approved, joking about DeepSeek-derived 'sleeper agents' in critical infrastructure. Kelsey Piper noted an earlier Anthropic ban had drawn criticism for not restricting Chinese models. Detailed safety discussion has not yet followed.

Good. Better to do this now before DeepSeek-derived sleeper agents are embedded across critical infrastructure and start running rampant following a pre-programmed date change or something.
